Block Party Report: Brixton x Turbo Haus Warm Up Montreal for Warped Tour

Block Party Report: Brixton x Turbo Haus Warm Up Montreal for Warped Tour

There are shows, and then there are the nights the whole street turns up for.

There are shows, and then there are the nights the whole street turns up for. On August 20th, we shut down a little corner of Saint-Denis, plugged in outside Turbo Haus, and threw the kind of block party this city does better than anywhere — loud, packed, and built entirely around good company.

Consider it our Montreal welcome mat for Warped Tour. Before the tour rolls through, we wanted to gather the people who make nights like this worth having: the bands, the regulars, the neighbours, and anyone who wandered over because the music was too good to walk past.

The Lineup

We handed the stage to three acts who brought it: Birds of Prey, Fake Friends, and Odie. Outdoor sound, a crowd stacked shoulder to shoulder, and that specific Montreal energy where the front row and the back of the lot are having equally good nights. It filled up fast and stayed full.

Free Show, Free Food, Free Fun

The whole thing was free, by design. No cover, no catch. We fired up a BBQ and fed everyone who showed — attendees and the Saint-Denis neighbourhood alike, because a block party that doesn't feed the block isn't much of a block party.

Attendees walked away with a gift bag, too: a Brixton snapback, guitar pick, a bandana, and stickers. Our friends at Empire (@thinkempire) pitched in with gift cards for their stores — appreciate you.

The Brixton touch was intentionally light. This wasn't about the brand front and centre; it was about community music, live and outdoors, and enjoying the company of friends on a summer night. We were happy to just help set the table.

Thank You, Montreal

Massive thanks to everyone who came out, whether you were there for the openers or drifted in for the last song. And a special shout to Turbo Haus for co-hosting — Sergio, you're the best. None of this happens without you and all the people at in your room.

Here's the best part: it went so well we're making it official. The Brixton x Turbo Haus block party is now an annual thing. So if you missed it, don't sweat it — same street, same spirit, we'll see you next year!
